Concepts Covered: 

1) Things to do in insti during the first few years for getting job ready (beyond Academics and CGPA focus.

2) Importance of improving written and verbal communication to speak confidently in front of a panel

3) Learning to use LinkedIn well and do meaningful networking

Learning outcome:

Understand importance of communication skills and networking

Live session: 3 hrs lecture

Session 2: 2pm – 4pm

TOPIC :

Resume writing Tips and also how to handle recession years from job search perspective

Concepts Covered: 

1) Key aspects of a resume. Dos and Don’ts. Share resume samples and best practices

2) How to choose the right jobs

Learning outcome:

A simple assessment quiz-based test that assesses the learnings in the session. Minimum criteria for the certificate is >60% in the test.

Profile of the Instructor(s)

 

FACULTY profile – Mr. Kartic vaidyanathan

 

Kartic Vaidyanathan is the founder of LetsPlayToLearn, an initiative that enables joyful learning through the power of play for corporates and educational institutions.  He has 21 years of experience in the corporate world and 5+ years as an entrepreneur. He teaches several courses for UG and PG students at IIT Madras related to Personal and Professional Development Stream that includes LifeSkills, Habits, Happiness and Success and LetsPlayToLearn. Apart from that he has done an NPTEL module on Strategies for Professional Growth as a part of IITM Online BS Degree for Data-Sciences. He also does a lot of mentoring for youngsters on guiding them on various aspects.

 

As a part of several student mentoring and student interactions, one of the common aspects that he has noticed is the stress that students undergo during the placement process in the last 2 years. He wants to educate and share tips about preparing for the placement process right from the early stages of joining the UG program so that it’s a smooth and easy process.

 

1) Things to do in institute during the first few years for getting job ready (beyond Academics and CGPA focus.

 

2) Importance of improving written and verbal communication to speak confidently in front of a panel

 

3) Learning to use LinkedIn well and do meaningful networking.

 

4) Resume writing tips.

 

5) Handling a year when economic environment is not great. Options to explore.

The topics would help undergraduate of not just engineering stream but any other stream since these are generic in nature.

 

Apart from his corporate experiences, he would share the wisdom from the book “A Job Before Graduation” written by Mphasis SVP Mr Gokul Santhanam, “The Startup of You” by LinkedIn CoFounders Reid HoffMann and Ben Casnocha and the book by LinkedIn #1 influencer Bruce Kasanoff “How to self-promote without being a jerk”

Eligibility & Fees

Intended Audience:

For all Interested students

For university teachers and faculty. (who are directly/indirectly involved in placement process for their institutions)

Basic qualification of participants:

Mandatorily you should have a laptop with good wifi to login. Mobile logins won’t help.

Fees breakup for the workshop:

a. Students – Rs 590 ( Inc 18% GST)
b. Faculty – Rs 885 ( Inc 18% GST)

Certification

After attending all the sessions and submitting assessments, we will provide you with a workshop completion certificate from NPTEL.

A simple assessment quiz-based test that assesses the learnings in the session should be completed and the minimum criteria for the certificate is >60% in the test.
