Profile of the Instructor

Dr. Bala Ramadurai is an author, coach, consultant and professor. He has authored a book on Design Thinking called Karmic Design Thinking (https://dt.balaramadurai.net). He has 3 patents to his credit and 10+ publications in international research journals. He co-founded TRIZ Innovation India (https://trizindia.org) and is an Adjunct Professor at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (India) (https://www.sibmpune.edu.in), Universidad Panamericana (Mexico), Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies and National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (https://nptel.ac.in). He is also a board member of the Board of Studies for Symbiosis International University.

Ms. Anita Nagarajan is an independent communications and editing consultant, specializing in technical, scientific, and educational content. She conducts workshops globally and works with academia, corporates, publishers, and nonprofits to create and edit communication materials in STEM, Business, and Education. She also designs training programs on communication skills for researchers and technical experts. Her clients include UNESCO MGIEP, IIM Ahmedabad, IISER Pune, and IIT Madras. She is a member of ACES: The Society for Editing, EASE (European Association of Science Editors), and the leadership team of EASE India. Previously, as a software engineer and team lead at Intel and a software engineer at IBM, she collaborated with clients and colleagues from various countries. Anita holds an MS degree from North Carolina State University and a BE degree from Government College of Engineering, Pune.

Day 1 : Introduction & Empathise

- Empathise Phase: Understanding the target users or customers

Day 2 : Analyse
Concepts Covered:
- Analyse Phase: 5- Whys and How might we.
- Solve Phase: Silent Brainstorming and Triggering solutions using TRIZ
Learning Outcomes:
- Analysing insights to unearth latent or unsaid needs
- Solving problems using thinking patterns of renowned inventors
Day 3:
Concepts Covered:
- Understand key steps in designing and creating an effective presentation on an idea/solution
- Learn tips for effectively delivering a presentation on an idea/solution
- Create and deliver a presentation on an idea/solution by applying the steps learned
- Evaluate presentations through self- assessment and peer feedback

Day 4: Solve & Test
Concepts Covered:
Test Phase: Prototyping and gathering feedback
Learning Outcomes:
Testing to validate your ideas by using real prototypes
Certification Criteria
Certificate Criteria:
Attendance for at least 2 hours on all 4 days (Total 8 hours)
Final project presentation participation.
Assessment Type :
- There will be a project presentation by each participant.
- Active participation, the discussion raised in the workshop and the presentation of the project idea during the workshop are essential.
