Profile of the Instructors

Dr. Sairam Bhat

Dr. Sairam Bhat is a Professor of Law at NLSIU and provides training and advisory to various Government and Non-Governmental entities engaged in Start-Up Incubation, Funding and Compliance. Prof. Bhat is a recipient of the Fulbright Fellowship in 2010 at the University of Georgetown, Washington, the Linnaeus- Palme Academic Exchange Fellow at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm in 2013, and received the & Young India Environmental Law Fellowship & in 2003and served as Adjunct Faculty at Golden Gate University, San Francisco during Fall-2003. His publications include, Law Relating to Business Contracts [Sage 2009], Natural Resources Conservation Law [Sage 2010] Right to Information, [EBH 2012].

 

Dr. Uday Shankar

Dr. Uday Shankar is an Associate Professor of Law; Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law; Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He specializes in the field of Constitutional law and Energy law amongst others.

 

Mr. Raj Singh Niranjan

Mr. Raj Singh Niranjan is the Managing Partner, Trans India Law Associates; Advocate, Appellate Tribunal of Electricity (APTEL) & Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).

 

Shri Y.G.Muralidharan

Shri Y.G.Muralidharan is the Coordinator, Karnataka Electricity Governance Network.

 

Mr. Rohith Kamath

Mr. Rohith Kamath is a Partner, Rex Law Chambers at Bengaluru and is a Consultant with CEERA, NLSIU. With about 8 years of Experience as an Advocate and Associate Company Secretary. In 2018, received the Scholarship for the 3rd China Law Society Training Base held at Kunming, China. His publications include the Book ‘Health Care in India’, [Bloomsbury 2016].

 

Mr. Vikas Gahlot

Mr. Vikas Gahlot is a Senior Research Associate a CEERA, NLSIU and a PhD Research Scholar at Symbiosis International University, Pune. He holds B.Sc. and LLB degree from University of Delhi and LLM Degree from National Law University, Jodhpur. He has over 5 years of research experience and has contributed towards various research projects funded by the Government of India, United Nations Development Programme etc. He has published numerous research papers in reputed journals and has contributed chapters in edited books.

 

Ms. Gayathri Gireesh

Ms. Gayathri Gireesh is an Advocate and Associate at CEERA, NLSIU. She has practiced in Civil court, Bangalore and High Court. She has been in the field of corporate legal consultancy for more than 15 years in the areas of Banking, Insurance, Contract Management, IPR, Real Estate Documentation, Corporate Due Diligence Pharmaceuticals, Hospital Management and IT Firms She is the panel advocate to many Real estate companies, corporate entities and pharmaceutical companies as a legal Consultant.

 

Mr. Jaibatruka Mohanta

Mr. Jaibatruka Mohanta is an Advocate and Research Associate working at CEERA, NLSIU. He is also associated with Lawctopus and assists them in course formulation and delivery of the same. Apart from this, he is engaged with a few startups in structuring a few courses for their initial under-graduate courses.

Session II : Energy law in the era of climate change

  • Role of Renewable and Non-Renewable Resource. 
  • Environmental law in energy sector, EIA to SIA.

Understanding the role of renewable and non-renewable sources of energy with focus on anti-competitive policies.

 

SESSION III : Clean Energy technology for environment sustainability

Concepts Covered :

  • Clean Development Mechanisms for sustainability-Fly ash utilization, cleaner production, Review of the Hydro energy sector.
  • Green Energy priorities and Climate change; Innovations in Renewable Energy.
  • Emergence of non-conventional Energy Resources. 
  • Alternative Energy Technologies for environment sustainability.

Learning the mechanisms involved in clean energy sustainability and utilization of alternative technologies.

SESSION V : Energy Efficiency for climate change adaptation

  • Towards Green Infrastructure law and policy, Incentive and Concession.
