Course Description

The course “Introduction to Practical Entrepreneurship” takes the participants through the various stages of setting up and managing entrepreneurial and startup companies. The course is divided into five weekly modules, each of which is focused on a specific theme, while maintaining interconnectivity. These modules are Establishing, Strategizing, Innovating, Leading and Growing. Several real-life examples are provided throughout the Course. The Course emphasises the role of innovation and technology in stimulating and enabling entrepreneurial endeavours. The Course outlines the startup ecosystem, including the financing avenues, that supports entrepreneurship. Apart from AV content, which is provided each week, there would be live interactions to clarify and reinforce.

The Course equips the participants with a thorough understanding of the journey of entrepreneurship. Importantly, the Course enables the participants assess their own entrepreneurial personality and the requirements for being a successful entrepreneur. The participants will gain an understanding of the key stages of ideation, prototyping, testing, validation, and commercialisation. The participants will also learn the relevant principles of management and leadership. The Course features examples of how a startup project is progressed from ideation to tangible delivery. Apart from helping startup and entrepreneurial venture formation, the Course will also help reinforce entrepreneurial thinking and action in established companies seeking to grow and diversify.

 

Profile of the Instructor

Dr. C. Bhaktavatsala Rao received his Ph.D. Degree in Industrial Management and M. Tech. Degree in Industrial Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. He received his B.E. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

Dr. C. B. Rao has over forty-nine years of diversified experience in strategic and operational leadership of large, reputed companies, including global multinational corporations, in India. Dr. C. B. Rao’s last formal assignment was as Managing Director/Executive Chairman of Hospira Healthcare India Pvt Limited, a Pfizer Company. Dr. Rao is a prolific writer with several publications in economic and business dailies and refereed journals. Dr Rao is the founder of LeadeCrest Academy. Dr Rao has authored and published thirteen books under his LeaderCrest Banner over the last six years. 

Dr C. B. Rao serves as Ajit Singhvi Chair Professor in the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai. He is a non executive director on the boards of companies. He also serves as adviser to global corporations.

Assignment Details

  • There will be an assignment relating to each weekly module, focusing on the topic of the module. The guidelines for the assignment will be provided.
  • Each completed assignment will have to be submitted within seven days of being given the assignment topic.
  • The combined evaluation of all the five submitted assignments will determine the successful completion of the Course by the participants and the certification.

 

Certification Criteria

Attendance and Assignment score will be considered for the certification.
