  • Projected gradient descent

Aug 20, 2022 - Sat (4 - 7pm)

Concepts Covered: 

Optima, gradients,KKT, Lagrangian Gradient descent.
Learning outcome:
  • Identify and formulate optimisation algorithms.
  • Verify necessary conditions for optimality.
Live session: 3 hrs lecture

Aug 21, 2022 - Sun ( 5- 7pm)

 

Concepts Covered: 

Projected gradient descent, Dual ascent, Convex optimisation. Learning outcome:
  • Implement basic algorithms for optimisation and understand their limitations.
  • Use CVXOPT as a tool for convex optimisation.
 
Live session: 2 hrs lecture

Profile of the Instructor(s)

  Dr.Harish Guruprasad is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Madras. He works on Machine Learning theory/algorithms and aspects of explainability and fairness in AI.    

Eligibility & Fees

Basic qualification of participants:

  • Mathematically mature audience, with a good grasp of analytical geometry.
  • Basic multivariate calculus and linear algebra.
  • (10+2 and first year Math in Engineering)

Eligibility criteria: 

No specific requirements.
