Workshop: 1 Building Energy Modelling
  • Concepts covered : Estimation of daily and annual cooling load requirement of a building
  • Timings : Sat 3:00pm – 5:00pm

Lecture: 3 Thermal Comfort: Parameters and Assessment
  • Concepts covered : PMV, PPV, measurement parameters, Thermal comfort strategies

Lecture: 4 Application of ECBC in building design
  • Concepts covered : Building Envelope, Site, Location and Orientation factors

Workshop: 2 Estimation of Building Envelope Performance Factor
  • Concepts covered : Stepwise estimation process of EPF as per ECBC-2017 for a given building

Lecture: 6 Application of Eco Niwas Samhita in building design
  • Concepts covered : Fundamentals of Residential building energy estimation based on Envelope, Site, Location and Orientation factors

Workshop: 3 Estimation of Residential Envelope Transmittance Value
  • Concepts covered : Stepwise estimation process of RETV as per BEE Govt. of India guidelines for a given residential tower.

Profile of the Instructor(s)

Prof. Shankha Pratim Bhattacharya (presently, Associate Professor) is an Architectural Engineer by profession and has more than twenty years of teaching experience. His area of research includes Building Science, Thermal Comfort and Building Energy Modelling and Vulnerability and Disaster Risk Assessment. He has also developed NPTEL Courses on Architectural Acoustics and Structural Systems in Architecture. He has published over ten technical papers in different reputed international journals. He has also conducted one GIAN course and four Short Term Courses under the Continuing Education Programme, IIT Kharagpur.  

Dr. Priyanka Dey (presently, Assistant Professor) did her B.Arch from NIT Patna ( Gold Medallist) and Masters in City Planning from IIT Kharagpur  ( 1st Rank ). Her Ph.D research was on Impact of Development Induced Displacement from IIT Kharagpur . She is a recipient of S.N. Haldar and K.K. Pal Awards from ITPI (West Bengal Chapter). Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in Department of Architecture and Regional Planning, IIT Kharagpur. She has published several technical papers in different reputed journals and international seminars. Her research areas include- housing and community planning, development induced displacement, slum redevelopment, land acquisition and R & R, urban morphology and disaster resilience.

Building Energy Modelling (Building Energy Index) Part-II

Use of OpenStudio to Alter Building Orientation and Wall Assembly Components.
All the 20 hours lectures and workshop are proposed to be Live sessions. The Live recordings of the sessions will be available for the participant to download for future reference.
Assessment: After end of each day’s lecture, there will be one short quiz (MCQ-Type). There will be 3 to 4 assignments to be submitted by the participant after each day’s lecture.

 

Certification

After attending all the sessions and submitting the assignments, we will provide you with a workshop completion certificate from NPTEL.
