About the workshop:

 Quantum computing is an emerging technology field with applications in several topics like quantum cryptography, quantum algorithms, machine learning and data science. Recently MCQuICC has been approved as the quantum hub by IBM and hence we will have exclusive access to their premium quantum computing hardware.  This access and the knowledge to use it is very much sought after by several industries and agencies. From MCQuICC we would like to run this training program to introduce and familiarize the quantum computing fundamentals to a wider group of professionals.  The program is designed to be a one-week program from 17th October to 21st October. A typical day will consist of two distinct sessions namely a lecture session in the morning which will be complemented by a lab session in the afternoon.  In the lecture session academic experts on quantum information and computing from IITM will give lectures and in the lab session we will provide hands-on training in using the quantum computer.

Day 1 : 17-October-2022 Monday

  • 9.30 AM to 11.00 AM – Introduction to Quantum Mechanics
  • 11.15 AM to 12.45 PM – Introduction to Quantum Information theory

Day 2: 18-October-2022 Tuesday

  • 9.30 AM to 11.00 AM – Quantum Gates and Circuits
  • 11.15 AM to 12.45 PM – Introduction to QISKIT

Day 3: 19 – October 2022 Wednesday

  • 9.30 AM to 11.00 AM – Quantum Algorithms I
  • 11.15 AM to 12.45 PM – Quantum Communication Protocols

Day 4: 20-October-2022 Thursday

  • 9.30 AM to 11.00 AM – Quantum Algorithms II
  • 11.15 AM to 12.45 PM – Quantum Key Distribution

Day 5: 21-October-2022 Friday

  • 9.30 AM to 11.00 AM – Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization
  • 11.15 AM to 12.45 PM – Quantum Simulation

Profile of the Instructor(s)

The Mphasis Center for Quantum Information, Communication and Computing (MCQuICC) proposes to hold the “Training Program on Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Algorithms”.  The program will be jointly organized by Dr. Chandrashekar Radhakrishnan and Dr. Prabha Mandyam.

Dr. Prabha Mandayam is an Assistant professor in the Department of Physics, IIT Madras. Her research areas include Quantum Information and Computing.

Dr. Chandrashekar is a member of the Mphasis Centre for Quantum Information, Communication and Computing (MCQuICC).  His research interests are in the field of resource theory of quantum information, quantum information theory studies of quantum fields and open quantum systems.  He currently teaches quantum information theory and quantum computing Lab courses at IIT Madras.

Eligibility & Fees

Eligibility:

People enrolled in the BS Data Science program and those who have completed the 4-week NPTEL course on “Intro to quantum computing”

Fees  for the workshop:

Rs 12,000 + GST

Certification

After attending all the sessions and submitting the project, we will provide you with a workshop completion certificate from NPTEL.
