Profile of the Instructor


Prof.Sourav Pal is a theoretical and computational chemist actively working on the development of many-body methods for electronic structure as well on chemical reactivity and applications of computational chemistry to bond activation, catalysis, battery anode materials and hydrogen-storage materials. Worked at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory from December, 1982 to May, 2015 ( Director from 1st December, 2010 to 31st May, 2015), Professor IIT Bombay from 1st June 2015 to 11th October 2017, Director, IISER Kolkata from 12th October, 2017 to 11th October 2022 and presently at Ashoka University. Bhatnagar awardee, Sastra-CNR Rao awardee, Fellows of all National Academies of Science, Founder Executive Board member of Commonwealth chemistry, Chairman, Chemical Division Council of BIS, Board member of APATCC and several other awards and honours.  Published more than 310 research papers till September 2024
