Description of the Workshop

In today’s rapidly evolving professional landscape, possessing strong subjective knowledge alone is no longer sufficient. The integration of technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), is transforming workplaces at an unprecedented rate, though at the cost of certain soft skills. Soft skills such as Communication, Leadership, Negotiation, Adaptability, and Time Management are critical to enhance employability and ensure organizational success. This workshop intends to upskill newly recruited Faculty members, Research Scholars, Postgraduate Students and Professionals from various organizations with new and inevitable skill sets that contribute by exposing them to the needs of the corporate world and essential skills to thrive in academic and professional settings. Participants will develop a well-rounded skill set that directly contributes to their personal and professional growth by focusing on effective communication, leadership, work ethics and conflict resolution.

Furthermore, the course emphasizes upon employability in the modern digital age, incorporating elements such as the role of AI, drafting successful business memos, and mastering nuances of business writing. In addition, practical topics like Interview Skills, Time Management and Adaptability are included to meet the growing demands of the workplace. The course will also touch upon work- life balance and fostering happiness, essential components of personal well- being and  organizational success. By creating a balance between technical expertise and soft skills, this course aims to produce confident, competent individuals who can navigate the challenges of the modern workplace.

Designed as a 10-hour online program over two days, this course brings together experts from diverse fields, ensuring that participants gain practical insights from various industries. With an emphasis on interaction, real-world application, and personal growth, this course provides the necessary tools for career advancement and organizational contribution in a dynamic, technology- driven world.

Profile of the Instructor

Prof. Binod Mishra, presently a professor in the Department of HSS, IIT Roorkee, has been teaching English for more than two decades at various levels. He has to his credit 25 books and more than a hundred articles published in reputed indexed journals and books. Learners across the country have received his MOOC courses on Soft Skills, Effective Writing, Public Speaking and Indian Poetry in English. He has also addressed the participants in around a hundred invited talks at various conferences and symposiums. Besides being an engaging teacher and an active researcher, Dr Mishra is also a passionate poet. He has also worked as the Vice Chairman of the Association for English Teachers of India, the largest body of English teachers, and twice been the Editor-in- Chief of The Indian Journal of English Studies, one of the oldest English language and literature journals.
