Profile of the Instructor

Prof. Sourav Datta

Prof. Sourav Datta (FNASc, FASc) is a plant biologist working in the Department of Biological Sciences, IISER Bhopal since 2013. He did his PhD from the Gothenburg University, Sweden followed by a postdoc at the University of Oxford, UK. His research area is plant environment interactions with a focus on plant photobiology and interactions between the soil and the root. His work illustrates the key role of BBX transcription factors in light-mediated plant development. His research also involves engineering MATE transporters to enhance low phosphate and aluminum toxicity tolerance. He has been regularly teaching Plant Biology at IISER Bhopal.
