Description about the workshop
Management accounting is designed for future managers, focusing on building the skills needed to identify, compile, and analyze cost-related information for effective business decision-making. The course also emphasizes communicating this information to stakeholders to improve financial performance through forecasting, budgeting, planning, and control.
Participants are introduced to a range of costing techniques, including Activity-Based Costing (ABC) and job costing, particularly in manufacturing contexts. They will learn to distinguish between traditional job costing methods and ABC, understanding the advantages and applications of each.
In addition, the course develops the ability to perform marginal analysis and supports strategic decision-making in areas such as product selection and pricing, ultimately helping to enhance product profitability.

Profile of the Instructor
Dr. Nishi Malhotra is an accomplished academic in finance and accounting, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at IIM Sambalpur, with a Ph.D. from IIM Kozhikode focused on microfinance and self-help group banking. She combines strong academic credentials—including a UGC-NET qualification—with over a decade of diverse industry experience at leading organizations such as Ernst & Young, PwC, IFCI, and ICICI Bank.
Her research portfolio is highly prolific, featuring numerous publications in Scopus and Web of Science-indexed journals (including Q1 and Q2, ABDC-listed journals), along with several authored and edited books on financial inclusion, microfinance, and sustainable development with publishers such as Emerald and Taylor & Francis. Her teaching spans core and elective courses in financial risk management, banking, and accounting, consistently receiving solid student feedback. Dr. Malhotra’s work is recognized through multiple best paper awards, international conference presentations, and editorial roles, positioning her as a significant contributor to research and practice in microfinance, financial literacy, and rural banking.
