Description about the workshop
This short-term workshop on Mathematics Modelling and Simulation offers a rigorous introduction to foundational concepts in real analysis, tailored for undergraduate and early graduate students in mathematics and allied disciplines.
Topics include:
- Population Dynamics models: numerical simulation of simple one variable population models and Continuous Growth Models. Simulations of some delay models, simulations of models with Age Distribution and linear stability of nonlinear systems
- Ecological models: Simulation of Predator–Prey Models: Lotka–Volterra Systems, Complexity and Stability Analysis of a Predator–Prey Model with Limit Cycle, Periodic Behaviour: Parameter Domains of Stability Competition Models.
- Epidemilogy models: Simulation of some Epidemic and SIS Diseases, S-I-R Epidemics, S-I-R Endemics models in MATLAB. Tumor models: Simulation of tumor spread and Invasion in the human brain, Numerical computation of diƯerent treatment scenarios.
- Numerical simulation of linear elasticity problems, Hooke’s law. Simulations of 2D Inviscid flow models, stream lines, streak lines, path lines plotting, viscous flow models, Navier-Stokes Flow, Newtonian and Non-Newtonian flow through pipes: Hagen Poiseuille flow, couette flow.
- Simulation of diffusion-reaction processes, Chemical Reactions and the Mass Action Law, Kinetic Reactions: 0th, 1st and nth order, Convection-Reaction-Diffusion Models, heat conduction and solute dispersion, exact solutions of convection-diffusion-reaction models.
Participants will engage with curated theory, modelling techniques, numerical simulations and intuitive geometric interpretations to build deep conceptual clarity. The program is ideal for all BTech, BSc and MSc. Level students including those preparing for or advanced coursework in applied mathematics.
