Description of the Workshop
Pharmacokinetics (PK) is the study of the way in which drugs move through the body during ADME specifically, what the body does to the drug. It is a model describing drug concentration in the plasma vs time. PK helps to optimize dosage regimens, prevents the emergence of resistance, plan for drug combination, route of administration and to prepare formulation. PK models include, empirical, mechanistic, Structured and stochastic. Compartmental Modeling involves dividing the human body into one or more compartments and describing each compartment with a set of differential equations. The various PK parameters can be determined from the experimental drug concentration in the plasma as a function of time. A free downloadable ODE solver(PLAS)https://arquivo.pt/wayback/20230321162314/http://enzymology.fc.ul.pt/software/plas/ as well as Microsoft excel will be demonstrated to solve one compartment and two compartment models and simulate the drug transit as a a function of time and estimate the parameters. Mining, analysis and extraction of hidden information of drug half-life data from literature using ML methods will be shown using a free software(Weka : https://weka.en.softonic.com/ ). All are expected to be prepared with a laptop and down load these softwares.
