Description of the workshop
This course introduces film editing as a storytelling craft, not just a technical skill. Designed for beginners and early-stage filmmakers, it breaks down how editors shape emotion, rhythm, and meaning through decisions made on the timeline.Participants will learn the language of editing—shots, continuity, cuts, pacing—and understand how real editors work, from organizing raw footage to building a finished scene. Through live demonstrations in DaVinci Resolve, hands-on exercises, and scene breakdowns, the course shows how editing choices directly affect audience emotion. The program also covers sound, music, and basic colour correction, helping learners understand what to focus on—and what to avoid—at an early stage. By the end, students gain clarity on editing workflows, styles, and career paths, along with a practical roadmap for improving their skills.
