Day 1 : Thursday : 8th December, 2022

Module 1
  • Concepts covered : Conventional surface engineering techniques
  • Learning Outcomes: Attendees will get the knowledge about the physical and chemical modification techniques for surface engineering.
  • Live session 1:30 hrs lecture.  30 mins Assessment

 

Day 2: Friday : 9th December, 2022

Module: 2 
  • Concepts covered : Need of advanced methods for surface engineering techniques
  • Learning Outcomes : Attendees will get the knowledge about the different properties’ modification after surface engineering.
  • Live session 1:30 hrs lecture. 30 mins Assessment

 

Day 3: Saturday : 10th December, 2022

Module: 3 
  • Concepts covered : Synthesis, processing, and characterisation of nano-structured coatings
  • Learning Outcomes : Attendees will get the knowledge about the different characterisation techniques after surface engineering
  • Live session 1:30 hrs lecture. 30 mins Assessment
Module: 4 
  • Concepts covered : Current trends in surface modification of nano-materials & Virtual lab tour of Advanced Composite Lab, IITR
  • Learning Outcomes : Attendees will get the knowledge about the current trends and challenges in surface modification techniques and how to resolve them.
  • Live session: 1 hr lecture
    1 h Virtual lab tour
    30 mins Assessment
    15 mins Q&A session and
    15 mins closing ceremony

Profile of the Instructor(s)

Prof. Kaushik Pal is Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, IIT Roorkee since 2012. He obtained his Ph.D Degree (2009) from IIT, Kharagpur and then joined Gyeongsang National University, South Korea for pursuing Post-Doc research. His fields of interests are surface modification of nano-materials and use of such materials in different electronic, mechanical and biomedical applications. Currently, he is acting as reviewer of several internationally known journals and an active member of National Academy of Sciences, American Chemical Society (ACS) and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Also, he is the recipient of Brain Korea (BK-21) fellowship award and DAAD fellowship award.
