Profile of the Instructors

Dr. Beena D.B. has been a faculty member at the School of Arts and Sciences, Azim Premji University, Bangalore, since 2016. Prior to this, she spent 7.5 years teaching postgraduate students at a private college in Bangalore. She earned her Ph.D. in Forest Biotechnology from the Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun, India, and has also worked as a research fellow on Department of Biotechnology-sponsored projects where she worked on developing protocols for clonal propagation sandalwood, red sanders, eucalyptus and bamboo species. Her expertise lies in plant cell culture and the study of endophytic fungal metabolites, with applications in agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Krishna Deepak R.N.V is a faculty member at the School of Arts and Sciences, Azim Premji University, Bangalore since Sep 2023. He is a Computational Structural Biologist with interests in development and application of integrative structural modelling and multiscale simulation methods. Before joining the University, he worked as a Senior Scientist at the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. He obtained his PhD, specialising in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), and received his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Biotechnology from the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, India. At present, he is interested in studying snake venom toxins using computational approaches to establish the structural basis of snake venom toxicity.
